Christoph Vedder

Christoph Wilhelm Vedder (* 1947 in Göttingen ) is a German law scholar and former university professor.

Life

Vedder studied law and history at the Universities of Göttingen , Geneva and Nice . After the two state examinations in law and his legal clerkship in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Celle , he initially worked as an assistant at the Institute for International Law at the University of Göttingen, later at the Institute for International Law at the University of Munich . In Göttingen, he received his doctorate in 1978 at Gottfried Zieger Dr. iur. After working for the Max Planck Society until 1981 and then at the 11th Olympic Congress , he took up a position asacademic advice at the Munich chair from Bruno Simma . There, Vedder completed his habilitation with a previously unpublished public law work examined by Simma and Peter Lerche with the title Intra-federal state contracts as an instrument of lawmaking in the federal state .

This was followed by professorships at the universities of Frankfurt am Main , Hamburg , Augsburg , Bielefeld and Greifswald . In 1992 he accepted from many appointments at Bielefeld University, where he held the chair for public law, international law and European law. In 1996 he moved to the University of Augsburg, where he held a chair of the same name until his retirement. From 1999 to 2002 Vedder also served as dean of the Augsburg law faculty. In addition, Vedder was, among other things, a member of the International Sports Court . He was also a visiting professor at the universities of Graz , Leiden , Oslo , Bratislava , Saarbrücken and Kaliningrad, among others .
