Michael Euler-Schmidt 2017

Michael Euler-Schmidt (* 1953 in Dillenburg ) is a German art historian , Germanist and theater scholar . He was a long-time curator , head of the department for the care and research of Cologne customs and from 2009 to 2010 acting director of the Cologne City Museum .

Euler-Schmidt studied in Berlin and worked in Düsseldorf before he joined the Stadtmuseum as an employee, where he has curated numerous exhibitions since the 1980s. From 1985 to 1986 he headed the Rheinische Bildarchiv for one year on behalf of Paul von Naredi-Rainer .

He is the author and editor of publications on art, history and customs and was awarded the German Carnival Culture Prize in 2017 . From 2011 to 2019 he acted as managing director of the association Friends and Patrons of Cologne Customs.

At the end of 2019, Euler-Schmidt retired as an employee of the city museum.
