Marcus Leifeld (* 1968 ) is a German historian . He has published numerous works on the history of the Cologne Carnival .

Life

Leifeld studied modern and contemporary history , art history and historical auxiliary sciences and archival studies at the University of Bonn . In 1995 he wrote a master's thesis on the subject of “Four first ministers from the Electoral Cologne . Prosopographical Studies on Politics and Society of the Old Empire ”and became a research assistant in the library of the History Department of the University of Bonn.

Leifeld works as a historian for the Cologne City Museum and is a research associate of the five traditional corps Kölsche Funke rut-wieß from 1823 , Kölner Funken-Artillerie Blau-Weiß from 1870 , Prinzen-Garde Cologne 1906 , EhrenGarde der Stadt Köln 1902 and Altstädter Cologne 1922 .

Today he works as a consultant for provenance research in the Department for Art and Culture of the City of Cologne.

Leifeld was curator of the exhibition “Kölle Alaaf under the swastika. Carnival between entertainment and propaganda ”(November 18, 2011 to April 1, 2012) in the NS Documentation Center in Cologne . In 2012 he did his doctorate at the University of Bonn on the Carnival of Cologne during the National Socialist era.
