Michael Heinz Färber (born February 19, 1960 in Soltau ) is a German major general in the army of the Bundeswehr and since March 27, 2019 commander of the information technology command of the Bundeswehr in Bonn .

Military career

Training and first uses

Färber began his career in 1978 as an officer candidate in the armored force . This was followed by a degree in electrical engineering from 1979 to 1983. After deploying the troops, Färber returned to the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg, where he worked as a research assistant in 1992 as a Dr.-Ing. to do a PhD.

General staff training and service as a staff officer

After participating in the general staff course at the command academy of the Bundeswehr from 1992 to 1994 in Hamburg , Färber also completed the French general staff course. From 1998 to 2001 he worked at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe in the Joint Operations Center and with the Chief of Staff, General Dieter Stöckmann . On October 6, 2016, he took over the post of Sub-Department Head I in the newly established Cyber ​​and Information Technology (CIT) department in the Federal Ministry of Defense.
