Michael Girardet

Michael Girardet (born March 1, 1932 in Chemnitz) is a German publisher.

Life

Michael Girardet was born as the son of Hellmut Girardet and grandson of the company's founder, Kommerzienrat Wilhelm Girardet . 1953–1954 he first studied mathematics and physics and from 1955 to 1958 law with a degree in law. He received his doctorate in 1959 from the University of Würzburg with the topic What is positivism in law? . During his studies, he completed internships at various newspaper publishers until 1959. In 1960 he joined the management of the W. Girardet publishing house in Wuppertal .

From 1973 he was the sole managing partner of W. Girardet KG based in Düsseldorf , Wuppertal and Krefeld (from 2011 Girardet Verlag KG) and publisher of the Westdeutsche Zeitung .

Girardet was on the board of the North Rhine-Westphalian newspaper publishers' association, chairman of the board of the Regionalpresse eV and Royal Thai Honorary Consul General .
