Michael Grünwald (art historian)

Michael Grünwald (born April 20, 1967 ; † November 12, 2011 in Vienna ) was an Austrian art historian .

Life

Michael Grünwald studied art history at the University of Vienna and was particularly connected to the Göttweig Abbey throughout his life. In his short but strong work, as a project manager and research assistant, he was mainly involved in the preparation of the "Graphic Cabinet and the Art Collection of the Göttweig Monastery". This project was in cooperation with the Danube University Krems where he also taught on the subject of "Iconographic Analysis and Digital Image Documentation".

His scientific contributions to the artist family of Johann Schmidt , the sculptor and to his son the painter Kremser Schmidt, as well as many exhibitions curated by him in the Göttweig Abbey, received special attention.
