Michael Harclay

Sir Michael Harclay (also de Harcla ) († before 1309) was an English knight and politician.

The Harclay family probably derived their name from the village of Hartley in Westmorland . Michael Hartley was a vassal of the Barons de Clifford . From 1285 to 1298 he served as the Royal Sheriff of Cumberland . In 1301 he was Knight of the Shire for Westmorland in the English Parliament . He married Joan, daughter of William Fitzjohn, a Yorkshire landowner . He had several children with her, including:
