Michael Hilgers

Michael Hilgers (born August 6, 1966 in Mönchengladbach ) is a former German national hockey player and Olympic champion .

Career

Hilgers won the silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. Four years later he won the gold medal with the German national hockey team at the 1992 Summer Olympics . He scored both goals for the German team in the 2-1 final victory over Australia.

For winning the gold medal in hockey, he received the silver laurel leaf on June 23, 1993.

Hilgers played as a striker during his career and was active in the field hockey Bundesliga at Gladbach HTC . He is currently the managing director of the hockey park in Mönchengladbach . The 2006 men's field hockey world championship was held here .

He was also the coach of the men's team at the Gladbach HTC from 2006 to 2008.
