Michael John Roberts

Michael John Roberts (born September 16, 1947 in Eccles ) is an English classical philologist .

Life

He received his BA from Cambridge University ( St John's College ) and a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign . Before joining Wesleyan University , he taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for two years . He has received grants from the American Council of Learned Societies and the National Endowment for the Humanities. From 1980 to 2017 he taught at Wesleyan University as the Robert Rich Professor of Latin .

His main area of ​​research is the Latin poetry of late antiquity ( biblical epic , Prudentius , Venantius Fortunatus ).
