Michael Jones (athlete)

Michael Jones ( Michael David "Mick" Jones ; born July 23, 1963 in London ) is a former British hammer thrower .

He had his greatest successes starting for England at the Commonwealth Games: in 1986 in Edinburgh and in 1994 in Victoria he finished fourth, in 1998 in Kuala Lumpur he won silver and in 2002 in Manchester gold, and in 2006 in Melbourne he was fifth.

At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 and at the World Athletics Championships in Edmonton in 2001 , he was eliminated from the qualification. At the World Cup in Athletics, he was fifth in Johannesburg in 1998 and eighth in Madrid in 2002 .

He was English champion six times (1998–2002, 2004).

He set his personal best of 76.43 m on June 9, 2001 in Birmingham .
