Michael Loss

Michael Loss (* 1954 ) is a mathematician and mathematical physicist.

Loss studied at the ETH Zurich , where he received his doctorate in 1982 under Walter Hunziker (and Israel Michael Sigal ) ( The Three Body Problem with Threshold Singularities ). He is a professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology .

He worked in particular on the stability of matter, collaborating with one of the pioneers in this field, Elliott Lieb , as well as with Jan Solovej , Heinz Siedentop , Maria J. Esteban and Jürg Fröhlich . He also wrote an analysis textbook with Lieb.

He is an external corresponding member of the Chilean Academy of Sciences. In 2012 he became a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society .
