Michael Okuda

Michael H. Okuda is a designer and has been the Artistic Director and Scientific Advisor (Scenic Art Supervisor - chief designer) for Star Trek .

He is from Hawaii , where he graduated from Roosevelt High School and studied communication at the University of Hawaii at Manoa .

Michael Okuda developed the user interface ( LCARS ), alien fonts and equipment for four Star Trek series and seven Star Trek films. He has been nominated three times for an Emmy (category Best Visual Effects ) for his work .

He has already shown his talent in other films and series - for example:

For NASA he developed the logo for the Mars program Constellation , the logos of the Ares rockets , the Altair lunar module and the Orion spacecraft . For this he received the NASA Medal for Exceptional Public Service in 2009 .
