The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa is a state university in the Manoa (Mānoa) district of Honolulu in the US state of Hawaii . With 18,056 students (as of autumn 2016) it is the most important location of the University of Hawaii System .
history
The university was founded in 1907 as the College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts , renamed the College of Hawaiʻi in 1912 , and was given its current name in 1920.
Course offers
There are over 200 courses offered in 18 faculties. Among them are the faculties (schools) for oceanography, tropical agriculture and Hawaiian knowledge .
Sports
The sports teams are the Rainbow Warriors (men) and Rainbow Wahine (women). Other names such as warriors or rainbows are also used. The university is a member of the Big West Conference and a football member of the Mountain West Conference .
