Young players

Paschek is the only FC Vorwärts Berlin player who was born in the early 1950s and played in the children's team of the army club, starting there in 1959 at the age of nine. After Paschek, who had meanwhile trained as a concrete worker, was authorized to play in the men's division in 1968, the FCV initially used him in the second team, which played in the third-class district league East Berlin . At the same time he became a soldier in the National People's Army . With FCV II Paschek became district champion in 1970 and rose to the GDR league .

Oberliga with FC Vorwärts

Two months after his 21st birthday, he was used on May 22, 1971 for the first time in the league team of FC Forward. In the match on the 20th match day of the 1970/71 season FCV - Rot-Weiß Erfurt (1-0), he was used in the 70th minute. Finally, he was used in six other league games by the end of the season, three of which he played over the full game and was called up as a striker. In the summer of 1971 Paschek had to move with FC Vorwärts to Frankfurt (Oder), where the club played as FC Vorwärts Frankfurt for the next few years. For the 1971/72 season, the 1.71 m tall Paschek was officially reported as a striker for the league squad, but he mainly played again in the second team. After a league game in the first half of the season he was only used regularly as a center forward in the first team from matchday 21. 1972/73 he came to 23 league games, but was often substituted in the second half. Nevertheless, with ten goals he was the top scorer of the FCV. After this high-altitude flight Paschek fell back into the role of a substitute player and was only called up nine times in the league, only three times he played the full 90 minutes. Paschek played his last league game for FC Vorwärts on February 2, 1974. In the home game against FC Carl Zeiss Jena (0-0), he played during the last 23 minutes. Within four seasons he had come to 46 league appearances in which he scored 15 goals.

Promotion to the league with 1. FC Union

In April 1974 Paschek was dismissed from the army and retired from FC Vorwärts Frankfurt at the same time. He returned to East Berlin and joined the league relegated 1. FC Union Berlin. This reached the promotion round to the league, and in the promotion game forward Stralsund - 1. FC Union (1: 1) on June 29, 1974 Paschek played his first game for Union. With this 1: 1, the Berliners ended up only in third place of the promotion round and missed the immediate return to the top division. In the GDR league season 1974/75 Paschek established himself as a regular player and was top scorer of the league season B. Union with 19 goals again, but failed for the second time. After the 1975/76 season, the Unionern finally managed to rise, but Paschek only appeared in four point games.

It was only on the eleventh match day of the 1976/77 league season that Paschek was able to intervene again in the action of the first Union team and again advanced to the center forward of the starting eleven. During the second half of the 1977/78 season, coach Heinz Werner moved him to the left attacking side, where Paschek stayed until the spring of 1979. He was now 29 years old and his performance curve was drawing to a close. For the 1979/80 season he was nominated again as a striker, but was only used four times as a substitute until December 1979. On December 1, 1979 he was called up in the game Union Berlin - Chemie Leipzig (0-0) for the last time in the league, he came on the field in the 63rd minute. It was his 113th competitive game for the first team of 1. FC Union Berlin, for which he had scored a total of 36 goals.
