Michael Posner (economist)

Michael Vivian Posner (born August 25, 1931 in London , † February 14, 2006 in Oxford ) was a British economist .

Life

His parents Jack and Lena Posner emigrated from Russia to escape the pogroms there. Michael Posner himself grew up in Ilford. After the Second World War he moved to Croydon with his family.

Act

Michael Posner gained great prominence in economics for his article published in 1961 in which he developed his theory of the technological gap . This theory was widely received and is still today the basic theory for explaining international trade.
