Michael Rosenberger (piano maker)
Michael Rosenberger (born April 13, 1766 in Frohnhof , Franconia ; † November 12, 1832 in Vienna ) was a German piano maker .
Life
In 1796 he took the citizenship oath in Vienna . When he settled there is unknown, but presumably no later than 1786, since citizenship according to the law of the time could only be obtained after ten years in Vienna.
Rosenberger was one of the numerous piano makers who imitated Anton Walter 's instruments . Walter was the leading piano maker in Vienna in the last two decades of the 18th century and tried to surpass the instruments of the famous Augsburg piano maker Johann Andreas Stein by changing the mechanics and amplifying the sound.
All of Rosenberger's preserved pianos have the so-called Viennese mechanism , a further development of the bounce mechanism invented by Stein in 1781 at the latest .
