Michael S. Leshing
Michael S. Leshing , born as Michail Sergejewitsch Lesching , (born November 15, 1882 in Russia , † April 13, 1953 in Los Angeles , California , United States ) was a Russian-born and in the 1940s American naturalized plant manager and Engineer at 20th Century Fox Laboratory. In 1946 he received a Technical Achievement Award for his work .
Life
Leshing came to the US at a young age. He was said to have a covert relationship with the Soviet secret service during World War II . In 1943 he is said to have been involved in the VENONA project , a joint project of the US secret services and the British foreign secret service MI6 to decipher secret messages from official Soviet agencies in the USA, which were recorded between 1938 and 1945 Provided the KGB documents and a formula for film processing technology.
In 1946 , Leshing was awarded a Technical Achievement Award for developing a machine for developing film along with Benjamin C. Robinson , Arthur B. Chatelain and Robert C. Stevens (all from 20th Century Fox) and John G. Capstaff (from Eastman Kodak Company ) 20th Century Fox ("for the 20th Century Fox film processing machine") awarded.
