Michael Schimmer

Michael Schimmer (born January 10, 1967 in Potsdam ) is a former German athlete and Olympic participant.

Life

His home club was SC Dynamo Berlin . From 1984 to 1989 he was a member of the GDR national athletics team and until 1991 a member of the German national team in the 400-meter sprint discipline . He achieved a best time of 45.98 s. In 1987 he took part in the World Athletics Championships in Rome and helped his team to take part in the intermediate run with second place. In 1988 he took part in the Olympic Games in Korea and helped his team qualify for the final battle in the intermediate run. He has been working successfully as a trainer and personal trainer since 1990. From 1998 to 2000 he was also a trainer at the Oberlinhaus Center for the Disabled in Potsdam. He published his sporting memories in his biography Tiefstart - My story as a track and field athlete and "Diplomat in a sports suit" (Owens Verlag 2020).

  • 1983–1984 GDR junior champion,
  • 1987 World Championship participation in Rome,
  • 1989 GDR hall champion
  • 4th place at the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 in the 4 × 400 m relay.
