Michael Schneider (politician, 1855)

Michael Schneider (born September 13, 1855 in Wartberg ; † March 6, 1929 in Stoitzendorf ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP ) and business owner. From 1909 to 1927 he was a member of the state parliament of Lower Austria and mayor of Stoitzendorf.

Schneider attended elementary school and had to run his father's business after his father's death at the age of 14. In 1881 he took over a property in Stoitzendorf. He also served on the Stoitzendorf municipal council for 12 years and was elected mayor of the municipality in 1906. On January 8, 1909, Schneider was sworn in as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament, representing the judicial districts of Eggenburg, Gföhl and Horn. He belonged to the state parliament until it was dissolved on January 8, 1915, and was a member of the provisional state assembly from November 5, 1918 to May 4, 1919 after the First World War. He then belonged to the state parliament from May 20, 1919, where he was a member of the Lower Austria-Land Curia between November 30, 1920 and May 11, 1921 during the phase of separation of Vienna from Lower Austria. Schneider left the state parliament on May 20, 1927. He was also chairman of the district road committee, member of the district school council and the district poor council as well as chairman deputy of the agricultural district association.
