Michael Scott Rohan

Michael Scott Rohan (* 22. January 1951 in Edinburgh , † 12. August 2018 ) was a Scottish science fiction - and fantasy - author .

Life

Rohan studied law at Oxford University and received his master's degree in 1973. At university he met his future wife, Deborah, whom he married in 1977. After graduation, he was editor of encyclopedias until 1978. He also wrote columns, especially about operas, for various music magazines.

Rohan published his first short story in 1973 in a university magazine. From 1977 he published short stories professionally. He wrote his first novels partly in collaboration with Allan J. Scott. The most famous works by Rohan are the cycles The Winter of the World and the World of Gates .

In 2000 he was diagnosed with an incurable disease. Then he largely stopped writing. He died in a hospital in Edinburgh on August 12, 2018.
