Michael Siegfried (born February 18, 1988 ) is a Swiss football player who is currently without a club.

Career

Michael Siegfried comes from the club's own talent factory at FC Thun. In 2001, at the age of 13, he moved from FC Lerchenfeld to Thun for the U14. He made his debut for the first team on July 17, 2010, when he came on as a substitute in the 81st minute at the home game against cantonal rivals BSC Young Boys . Before that, however, he had just missed his debut several times. Siegfried had been part of FC Thun's first team since the 2007/08 relegation season.

In 2007/08 Siegfried was still playing for the Thun U21s (then in the 2nd interregional league ) and would probably have been in the 1st team (back then in the Challenge League ) in the following season if he hadn't had a hard time preparing injured. (Cruciate ligament tear) He was out for the entire preliminary round of 2008/09 and was subsequently only used for the U21s.

In the 2009/10 season the defender was loaned to FC Breitenrain in the first division , where he played 27 games and scored two goals. In 2010, the Thun U21s made it to the 1st league and the 1st team made it to the Axpo Super League. Siegfried has been working for both teams since his return from Breitenrain. Under the leadership of Rüdiger Böhm , Siegfried is still on the upswing with the U21. At the time of the start of the second half of the season in March 2011, the team is the most successful of all ten U21 teams in the first division. Due to his performances there, the young defender is consistently recommended for the first team, for which he faced BSC Young Boys again on February 20, 2011.

On March 22, 2011 it was announced that Siegfried had extended his expiring contract with FC Thun until June 2012 - with the option for a further year. Unfortunately Siegfried was seriously injured again in autumn 2011 (cruciate ligament rupture during training) and was out until the start of the 2012/13 season before he was loaned out again. This time for one season at FC Biel / Bienne. However, the loan deal with the Challenge league club was dissolved in spring 2013 and Siegfried returned to Thun. Under the meanwhile new trainer Urs Fischer he came regularly to assignments. Siegfried was spared the unfortunate injury until summer 2015, but fate struck again in the first game of the 2015 season. In Israel at Hapoel-Ber Sheeva, Siegfried injured his legs after 10 minutes after a rough tackle (ankle dislocated and fibula broken). In February 2016, Siegfried reported fit again against YB and came regularly to use in the second half of the season under Saibene.
