World Party is the rock band of the Welsh singer and multi-instrumentalist Karl Wallinger , who dominates the project and works with constantly changing line-ups. The album Bang! , which rose to number 2 in the UK charts in 1993 .

Band history

In 1985 Karl Wallinger founded his band World Party. The first album Private Revolution was released in 1986 with the participation of different musicians and reached, just like the single Ship of Fools , middle chart positions in Great Britain and the USA . A year later, the first permanent cast of the group was found. These included Jeff Trott ( guitar ) and Guy Chambers ( percussion ). The second long player Goodbye Jumbo rose to the British and American album hit parade in 1990, and the associated singles Message in the Box , Way Down Now and Thank You World entered the UK charts in 1990 and 1991, respectively.

For the third album Bang! Wallinger looked for new musicians. Dave Catlin-Birch ( guitar ) and Chris Sharrock ( drums ) completed World Party. The new band constellation made it into the British Top 10 , where the album was at number 2 in May 1993, and the German charts , where it reached number 69. The singles Is It Like Today , Give It All Away and All I Gave also made it into the UK charts in the same year, and Is It Like Today also made it into the German charts.

Egyptology was the name of the 1997 album that was mostly successful in the UK. The release Beautiful Dream was able to place in the British Top 40. The 2000 album Dumbing Up once again made it into the UK charts; the single Here Comes the Future is the last single hit from World Party so far. This success was denied to the long player Best in Show 2007.
