from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Michael Strigel (* around 1445 in Memmingen ; † around 1519 there ) was a German painter .

Live and act

Michael Strigel was born in the Upper Swabian town of Memmingen. Not much is known about his life, but he painted frescoes and pictures for churches and monasteries in the Upper Swabian and Allgäu region in Ivo Strigel's workshop , who may have been his uncle . His works are artistically inconceivable from the Memmingen school itself. Due to his affiliation to this, however, he must have been a talented painter of his time.
