The author

biography

Michael Stuhr grew up as the son of a professional soldier in various garrison towns. According to his own statements, Stuhr began reading early on, not least because of the frequently changing places of residence, as friendships could not be long-term under these conditions. Books were the more reliable friends there, he says.

After completing school, Stuhr trained as a designer of display advertising / advertising material and worked in this role for various companies and as a freelancer . From 1984 to 1994 Stuhr and his second wife ran an arts and crafts business in Bielefeld. As a result, there were numerous international contacts that occasionally made it necessary to be personally present on site. The experiences from North and West Africa in particular flow into Michael Stuhr's works time and again.

In the mid-1980s, Stuhr began to write smaller texts, some of which were published in regional periodicals . Encouraged by this, a collection of short stories was created, which was published in 1992 by Morstadt Verlag under the name “Kneipenpalaver” . The Thienemann Verlag continued in 1999 with “The City of Flying Ships” and soon afterwards with “The Call of the Steppe”, two fantasy novels, the first of which was nominated for the Pied Piper Prize of the City of Hameln . In 2001, Thienemann Verlag published the first “Team” volume under the pseudonym “Mike Stuart”, which has so far been followed by five more. Revised editions of the first four volumes appeared in 2009 under the author name Michael Stuhr. Two more volumes of "Das Team" appeared in 2010. Furthermore, in August 2010 a theme tune for the "Team" books was published.
