Michael Wittschier

Michael Wittschier (born September 24, 1953 in Cologne ) is a didactician, teacher and artist who, with his numerous publications for the subjects of philosophy and German, realizes the principle of clear thinking and learning.

Life

After completing school in Cologne and Kaiserslautern, he studied German and philosophy in Cologne. Since 1980 Wittschier has lived and worked as an artist and author in Wipperfürth in the Bergisches Land; From 1980 to 2017 he was a teacher at Engelbert-von-Berg-Gymnasium, from 2004 to 2017 also head of department at the center for practical teacher training in Engelskirchen and between 2005 and 2014 lecturer at the University of Cologne. Since 2012 he has also worked as a lecturer for the advanced training of philosophy teachers. His pictures and sculptures have been on view in numerous exhibitions since 1986, including in the Oberberg art collection in the Homburg Castle Museum.

With his introduction to philosophical thinking, Wittschier showed as early as the 1980s that there is a third way between esotericism and exotericism in philosophy didactics , which he then theoretically (with reference to the 'tua-res-agitur-principle' ) and continuously expanded it for philosophy as a school subject: “The first thing that catches the eye about the books is the lovingly inviting design. (...) Wittschier loves questions (...) that bring unexpected problems to light and suddenly stimulate the reader to philosophize. "

With his moral-philosophical interpretation of well-known fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm and through his collaboration with the magic philosopher ANDINO, Wittschier made an innovative contribution to working with literary and visual media in philosophy classes .

Wittschier wrote, among other things, three method books with a wealth of practical suggestions for philosophy lessons, a Rhenish-colored declaration of love to philosophy and a collection of grammar games for German lessons. In 2019 a new type of hiking guide was published in the Bergisches Land with the motif hiking trails he discovered.
