Michael Wolf (social scientist)

Michael Wolf (born October 27, 1947 ) is a German social scientist , psychoanalyst and book author .

Career

Wolf studied law (first state examination), psychology (diploma) and sociology (doctorate) in Frankfurt and Berlin . He was a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin , at the Sigmund Freud Institute in Frankfurt am Main, as well as a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist at the Offenbach City Clinics and at the Center for Psychiatry at the Frankfurt University Clinic . 1985–1990 he trained as a psychoanalyst . In 1989 he received his habilitation and was a private lecturer in sociology at the Free University of Berlin. From 1993 to 2013 he was Professor of Psychology at the University of Applied Sciences in Fulda . Since then he has been researching at the Berlin Institute for Applied Social Sciences (BIAS). Since 1993 he has been running his own practice as a psychoanalyst, psychotherapist, supervisor and coach. He is also a lecturer and teaching therapist in Germany and, since 2005, in China ( Shanghai Mental Health Center).

Michael Wolf has been working since the 1980s as one of the few social scientists (habilitation, professorship) and psychoanalysts (lecturer and training analyst) qualified in both disciplines on questions of political psychology and cultural identity. He was and is a professor at German universities (Fulda, Berlin), as well as lecturer for psychotherapy and psychoanalysis in Germany and China at various institutions and clinics in the training of psychologists and doctors to become psychotherapists

Research and publications

Research and publications in the field of social psychology, conceptual and applied psychoanalysis, in particular supervision, leadership styles and organizations, cultural sociology, political psychology, methods and techniques of social research as well as the connection between identity and culture and their changes. Psychoanalysis appeared as a research method in critical theory in 2018 .
