Michael Zacharias

Michael Martin Zacharias (* 1945 ) is a German economist and was a professor at the University of Worms from 1977 to 2012 with a focus on marketing and sales. From 2012 to 2016 he was a lecturer for strategic marketing in the master’s program at the Graduate School of the Leuphana University of Lüneburg . He continues to work as a researcher, lecturer and consultant in direct sales in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and has been working internationally as a management consultant in waste oil recycling since 1998.

Act

In 1974, Zacharias received his doctorate from the Faculty of Law and Economics at the Technical University of Darmstadt on the subject of “Information concepts in government research planning in the FRG” . From 1977 to 2007 Zacharias was a professor at the University of Worms and head of the " Marketing and Sales" department in the "European Business Management / Retail Management" department. During this time he published three publications (including a phonogram), as well as a study on direct sales in German-speaking countries. A new edition of this industry report for the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, in which the income situation of people working in direct sales was examined, will be available from May 2017 on the website of the Chamber of Commerce.

He is a consultant in direct sales in network marketing and, as such, works in the development and management of direct sales systems. Zacharias founded the "Network Academy", a training facility for companies and for independent consultants and product presenters in network marketing. From 1996 he also worked as a consultant on behalf of banks and venture capital companies for the evaluation of business start-ups and marketing concepts.

Zacharias was a member of the supervisory board of the Internet company Guideguide AG in Remagen from 2000. The company went bankrupt in 2009.

Honors

In 2007 Zacharias received the first ever ring of honor from the Federal Committee for Direct Sales of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The ring of honor is an internal honor closed to the public.
