Mikhail Aleksandrovich Bonch-Bruevich ( Russian Михаил Александрович Бонч-Бруевич ; born February 9 . Jul / 21st February  1888 greg. In Orel , † 7. March 1940 in Leningrad ) was a Soviet radio technician.

Life

After studying electrical engineering in St. Petersburg , he worked in Nizhny Novgorod with the manufacture of electron tubes , built a powerful radio transmitter for the Communist International and was in charge of the development of radar in the Soviet Union .

Bonsch-Brujewitsch is buried in the Bogoslovskoye cemetery .

Naming

In June 1940 the Electrotechnical Institute for Communication Technology in Leningrad was named after Bonch-Brujewitsch. Since 1993 it has been called Санкт-Петербургский государственный университет телекоммуникаций им.проф. М. А. Бонч-Бруевича (English translation by The Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications ), has therefore retained its name despite being renamed.

In 1988, Mikhail Alexandrovich Bonch-Brujewitsch was honored on a postage stamp of the USSR.
