Mikhail Jurjewitsch Tschernow ( Russian Михаил Юрьевич Чернов ; born November 11, 1978 in Prokopyevsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who was last under contract with Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Continental Hockey League .

Career

Mikhail Tschernow began his career as an ice hockey player with Lokomotive Yaroslavl , for whose professional team he was active in the super league from 1996 to 1998 . With his team he won the Russian championship title in the 1996/97 season . He was then selected in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the fourth round as a total of 103rd player by the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he never played. Instead, he was from 1998 to 2001 for their farm team , the Philadelphia Phantoms , in the American Hockey League on the ice. At the beginning of the 2001/02 season, the defender returned to Lokomotive Yaroslavl, but left the club again after only two league appearances and played for HK Spartak Moscow in the following two years before ending the 2002/03 season at Ak Bars Kazan .

From 2003 to 2007 Tschernow played for two years each for the Metallurg Novokuznetsk and the SKA Saint Petersburg in the super league. For the 2007/08 season he moved to Salawat Julajew Ufa , with whom he immediately won the Russian championship. In the 2008/09 season , the Russian took part for Ufa in the newly founded Continental Hockey League , as well as at the European level in the Champions Hockey League . From the 2009/10 season , the former Russian international ran for HK Sibir Novosibirsk in the KHL. In January 2011 he signed a contract with HK Spartak Moscow until the end of the season before he was signed by Vityas Chekhov in the summer of 2011 .

International

In 2006, Chernov took part in the Euro Hockey Tour for Russia . In three games he stayed without points and received two penalty minutes.
