Mikhail Prokofievich Gerasimov
Michail Prokofjewitsch Gerassimow ( Russian Михаил Прокофьевич Герасимов ; born October 12, 1889 in Petrowka near Buguruslan ; † 1939 ) was a Russian writer .
In 1905 he joined the Socialist Party . After the October Revolution in 1917 he became a leading member of the proletcult movement and co-founder of the writers' group Kuznitsa (Eng. "Forge"). In 1921 he resigned from the party in protest against the New Economic Policy . In 1932, after the victory of Stalinism in the Soviet Union , the Kuznitsa was dissolved by party decision. Gerasimov was arrested in 1937 and died in prison two years later.
