Michal Viewegh
Michal Viewegh (born March 31, 1962 in Prague ) is a Czech writer and publicist.
Life
His father was an engineer, his mother a lawyer. He grew up in Sázava and graduated from high school in 1980 in Benešov . After dropping out of business studies, he studied pedagogy and Czech at the Charles University in Prague . After graduating in 1988, he worked as a teacher in Prague until 1993 and then for two years as an editor at the Český spisovatel publishing house . Viewegh has been a freelance writer since 1995.
He published his first stories in 1983 in the magazine Mladá fronta . In 1993 he received the Jiří Orten Prize . As a writer, he is currently expressing his political opposition to the former Czech President Václav Klaus in a very pointed manner.
