Michel Berr
Michel Berr (born June 9, 1781 in Nancy , † July 4, 1843 in Nancy) was a French lawyer and publicist.
Michel Berr, son of Isaak Berr de Turique , was the first Jewish lawyer in France. He was a pioneer of Jewish emancipation , in 1818 he presented the Aachen Congress with a memorandum on the situation of German Jews. In 1808 he was elected a corresponding member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences .
Berr worked for the Mercure de France , the Mercure étranger and the Magasin encyclopédique .
