Michel Boileau is a French mathematician.

Boileau received his doctorate in 1979 under Laurence Siebenmann at the University of Paris-Süd in Orsay (Inversibilite des noeuds de Montesinos). He taught for a long time at the University of Toulouse (Paul Sabatier) and today at the University of Marseille.

He deals with algebraic and geometric topology ( 3-manifolds , knot theory , orbifolds ), but also with group theory and dynamic systems .

In 2010 he and colleagues published an elaboration of the proof of the Poincaré conjecture by Grigori Perelman .

In 1991, 1997, 2000 and 2005 he organized the Oberwolfach seminar on low-dimensional topology.
