Bernhard Peter Leeb (* 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German mathematician who deals with differential geometry .

Leeb was national winner at the federal mathematics competition from 1981 to 1984 and received a gold medal and a special prize at the Mathematics Olympiad in 1983 . From 1982 he was in the German National Academic Foundation . From 1984 he studied mathematics first at the University of Frankfurt and from 1986 at the University of Bonn , where he received his diploma in 1991 from Werner Ballmann . He then went to the University of Maryland , where he received his doctorate in 1992 with William Goldman ( Three-Manifolds With (Out) Metrics of Nonpositive Curvature ). As a post-doctoral student he was at MSRI and in 1996 at IHES and from 1993 to 1997 assistant at the University of Bonn. 1997/98 he was Chargé de Recherche of the CNRS in Orsay. In 1998 he became professor at the University of Mainz , in 1999 at the University of Tübingen and in 2003 at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .
