Life

The son of a small business owner was enthusiastic about history and monument protection and horses from a young age . In 1975 Guyot and his four years younger brother Jacques acquired the Château de La Roche in Sologne and in 1979 the dilapidated Saint-Fargeau Castle in the Yonne department for a minimal amount . After failing with a "high cultural" festival, Guyot managed to finance the restoration of this building through great historical spectacles with the participation of the local population. There is also a collection of old steam locomotives on the castle grounds .

In the mid-1990s he designed the Guédelon project : 40 kilometers south of Auxerre , around 60 employees and 200 to 300 volunteers annually have been building a small fortress in the style of the 13th century - exclusively using medieval techniques. Planned construction time: 25 years. This project is now also self-sustaining.
