Michele Ansaldi

Michele Ansaldi was an Italian armaments and later automobile manufacturer as well as the founder of various local companies.

In 1884 he founded the arms and machine factory Società Officine Meccaniche e Fonderie Michele Ansaldi & C. , which initially mainly produced light weapons, was later relocated to Via Cuneo in Turin , and from 1905 initially with a company share of 47% Fiat Michele Ansaldi & C. was born. 203 vehicles of the type "Fiat-Ansaldi 10 / 12HP", first with chain and later with cardan drive, were manufactured there. The engines had a cubic capacity of 3,053 cc and 12 hp. The company was then taken over by Fiat on April 26, 1906 to 100% and the Società Automobili Brevetti Fiat transformed.

Shortly afterwards, on June 12, 1906, Ansaldi , who had a good knowledge of series production, founded the successful automobile company Società Ligure Piemontese Automobili (SPA) with Matteo Ceirano , which the two founders left in 1918 before the end of the First World War .

Ansaldi retired completely from professional life after 1918.
