Michelsen shipyard

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heinrich Michelsen yacht and boat yard is one of the oldest yacht and boat yards on Lake Constance . It is located in Friedrichshafen on the Seemooser Horn directly on the shores of Lake Constance on a property in the vicinity of which the dinghy area and the winter camp of the Württemberg yacht club WYC as well as the headquarters of the Baden-Württemberg sailing performance center are located.

history

The Michelsen shipyard was founded in 1921 by Heinrich Michelsen in Friedrichshafen- Seemoos. The first shipyard building was a few meters west of the large hall of the Dornier aircraft yard . At that time, the Michelsen shipyard had a small port with a sea connection. The shipyard building was destroyed on the occasion of the bombing on April 28, 1944. The reconstruction took place on the foundations of a larger building north of the Dornier aircraft yard. The shipyard burned out in 1958. A new shipyard building was then built in the same place, which is still in use today after modernization and expansion.

In 1963 the shipyard was taken over by Josef Dillinger, Heinrich Michelsen's son-in-law. In 1990 the shipyard was sold to Heiner Kemmer and in 2000 to Hans-Joachim Landolt.
