The Michoacán deer mouse ( Osgoodomys banderanus ) is a species of rodent from the New World mouse group that lives in Mexico .

These animals reach a head body length of 10 to 12 centimeters, a tail length of 11 to 13 centimeters and a weight of around 50 to 70 grams. Their fur is gray-brown on the back, their belly and feet are white. The skull is very slender.

Michoacán deer mice live exclusively in southwest Mexico, in the area of ​​the states of Nayarit , Jalisco , Michoacán and Guerrero . They live in bush lands, both on the coast and inland.

These animals can be found both on the ground and in the trees. They build nests out of leaves, grass and other plant material, either in tree hollows or on the ground. Their diet consists of seeds, fruits and insects.

Michoacán deer mice are close relatives of the white-footed or deer mice ( Peromyscus ), sometimes they are also incorporated into this genus.
