Micky Dolenz (born George Michael Dolenz Jr. March 8, 1945 in Los Angeles ) is an American musician, singer and actor; Dolenz became known worldwide in 1966 as a member of the pop group The Monkees .

Life

Micky Dolenz is the son of the actor George Dolenz. Among other things, he had played the title role in the television series The Count of Monte Cristo in 1956 . At the age of ten, Micky Dolenz played under the stage name Micky Braddock from 1956 to 1958 the role of Corky in the television series Circus Boy . At the end of 1965, Dolenz auditioned with around 400 other applicants for a new television series about the pop band The Monkees and was selected together with Davy Jones , Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork . On September 10, 1966, the band hit number one on the charts with their debut single Last Train to Clarksville . Two days later, the series successfully debuted on NBC .

From 1977 to 1989 Micky Dolenz lived in London's West End , working as a cameraman, producer and director for the BBC and London Weekend Television. After his return to the USA he played in the National Touring Company, in 2004 he played in Elton John's Broadway musical Aida . In 2005 Micky Dolenz published his first children's book.

In the summer of 2012, he did a number of solo shows with his band and as part of the 2012 Happy Together tour.

Micky Dolenz is the father of the actress Ami Dolenz .
