Microsoft Band is a smartwatch with fitness tracker function that was developed by Microsoft and released in limited numbers in the USA on October 29, 2014 . Microsoft Band was only offered for a short time because the device was sold out on the first day of sales both on the Internet and in most brick and mortar stores. Due to the high demand, the device should soon be available again in the Microsoft Store and American retailers. The watch has ten sensors, such as an optical heart rate monitor, GPS and UV sensor. The battery life of the Microsoft Band battery is two days.

To use the device, the Microsoft Health app is sometimes used , which is available for Windows Phone 8.1 , Android 4.3+, and iOS 7.1+, provided that Bluetooth is available. Microsoft Band has pre-installed apps with live tiles such as motion sensor, UV, alarm, timer, calls, messages, calendar, Facebook, weather and much more. As soon as Band is connected to a Windows Phone 8.1 device, the Cortana assistance service is also available, although a smartphone is still required for some Cortana functions. In addition, Band offers a message function that shows the latest news in the Notifications Center Tile.
