development

In 2003 the Japanese band Brahman played as the first foreign band at the Midi Modern Music Festival, but they were attacked by some spectators and objects were thrown at them. The 2003 festival was also the first Midi Modern Music Festival that was not held on the grounds of the Beijing Midi School of Music , but on a special festival site. In 2004 the Midi Modern Music Festival had to take place in October, as was the case in 2003, instead of the usual May 1st to 3rd. In 2005 a second stage was added, in 2006 there were already five. The Apres Midi Stage is not on the festival site, but in the Tango Bar on the edge of the city center on the second Ringstrasse . Two other stages are run by the Ao Tu Culture company and GuitarChina.com , respectively . In 2006 the festival moved to Haidian Park in Beijing's Haidian District . Of the more than 100 bands, 18 were foreign, including Alev , Monokino , Yokohama Music Association , The Wombats and The Mayflies . For the first time the festival took place for four days from May 1st to May 4th.

In 2007, Crimea , Kava Kava , The Soundtrack of Our Lives and Dave Stewart from Eurythmics played at the Midi Modern Music Festival. Greenpeace acted as a co-sponsor.
