Midong ( Chinese  米 东区 , Pinyin Mǐdōng Qū ; Uighur  میدونگ رايونى / Midong Rayoni ) is a municipality in the prefecture-level city of Ürümqi in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . It has an area of ​​3,407.42 km² and has about 296,000 inhabitants (2007).

The municipality emerged in 2007 from the merger of the municipality of Dongshan (东山 区, 244 km², 100,000 inhabitants) and the independent city of Miquan (米泉 市, 3315 km², 182,848 inhabitants).

Administrative structure

At the community level, Midong is composed of six street districts , five large communities , one community and one nationality community. These are:

Gumudi Xilu Street (古 牧地 西路 街道);
