Midway Island is an island off the Ingrid Christensen Coast of Princess Elisabeth Land in East Antarctica . It belongs to the Rauer Islands and is halfway ( English midway ) between Shcherbinina Island and the Mather Peninsula .
Australian scientists named them after their geographic location.
