Coral reef of the Devil's Gorge

The coral reef in the Devil's Canyon ( Albanian  Bariera Koralore e grykes së Diallit ), including coral reef of Sazan is a touristy undeveloped underwater landscape in the Adriatic Sea off the coast of Albania. The rocks are a habitat for corals and lie at a depth of about 10 meters off the island of Sazan . The coral reef was added to the list of natural monuments of Albania in 2002. The area is located within the Karaburun-Sazan Maritime National Park .

Climate and geographic location

The reef is located southeast of Sazan, the largest island in Albania, on the edge of the Strait of Otranto , which separates the Adriatic and Ionian Seas, and the Bay of Vlora . The port city of Vlora is not far away. Sazan is still used for military purposes and can only be visited with a permit or in guided groups.
