Mieczysław Gocuł (born May 21, 1963 in Choszczno ) is a Polish general and was the military commander of the Polish Armed Forces from 2013 to 2017 .

Life

Mieczysław Gocuł was born in Choszczno , in northwest Poland, in 1963 . The general is married and has two children. His hobbies include bridge and soccer.

Military career

Gocuł joined the armed forces of his country in 1983 and attended the officers' college there until 1987. After various other tasks within the Polish army, he was appointed military commander on May 7, 2013, succeeding Mieczysław Cieniuch . On August 15, 2014, he was promoted to general. On January 31, 2017, he resigned from his post as army chief and was replaced by Leszek Surawski .
