Apartment building Bürgerwiese 18a

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The tenement house Bürgerwiese 18a in Dresden was built from 1870 to 1872 by the architects Oswald Haenel and Bruno Adam . The building was destroyed in the air raid on Dresden in 1945.

The palace-like, stately home built in the “architectural forms of the French Renaissance ” was built as a four-storey building in a closed perimeter block development. It had an asymmetrically structured facade with a front length of six window axes. While the upper floors of other houses were mostly plastered , here the facades of all four floors were made of "purely processed" sandstone. A splendid loggia and a bay window on the street facade also show a higher construction cost .
