Miguel Ángel Ponce Briseño (born April 12, 1989 in Sacramento , California ) is a Mexican - American football player who plays in defense and midfield and is currently under contract with Club Deportivo Guadalajara .

Career

Ponce made his debut in the Mexican Primera División on April 24, 2010 in an away game of his team at the CD Cruz Azul , which ended 1: 1.

Ponce quickly established himself as a regular player in the defense of Chivas Guadalajara and completed, among other things, both finals for the Copa Libertadores 2010 against the Brazilian top club SC Internacional (1: 2 and 2: 3).

In 2011 he took part with Mexico as a visiting team at the 2011 Copa America in Argentina and was used in two games. Mexico was eliminated after the preliminary round.

In the summer of 2012 he took part with the Olympic team at the Olympic Games in London , where Mexico won the gold medal for the first time. He was used in five out of six games, u. a. in the final against Brazil . For Mexico this was the only gold medal in London.
