Miguel Abensour
Miguel Abensour ( 1939 - April 22, 2017 ) was a French philosopher specializing in political philosophy . Most recently he was professor emeritus for political philosophy at the University of Paris-Diderot and former president of the Collège international de philosophie .
Life
Miguel Abensour wrote for the French journals Textures , Libre and Tumultes . Since 1974 he has been editor of the Critique De La Politique series (published by Payot & Rivages). Abensour gained attention with his contributions to the reception of the Frankfurt School in France .
In his works and numerous articles he tried to reconcile democracy , understood as "democracy against the state", with the idea of utopia , influenced by Emmanuel Levinas ' criticism of Martin Buber's idea of interpersonal relationships - the I and you relationship is opposed to the I and the id.
He also published numerous articles on Emmanuel Levinas, Claude Lefort , Saint-Just , Utopian Socialism ( Pierre Leroux , William Morris ), Blanqui and members of the Frankfurt School.
