Collège international de philosophie

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Collège international de philosophie ( Ciph ) in the 5th arrondissement of Paris is an open academy that was founded in 1983 by Jacques Derrida , François Châtelet , Jean-Pierre Faye and Dominique Lecourt in order to open up opportunities for philosophical research and teaching beyond the French to improve traditional forms in university and high school ( Lycée ). This foundation continued the reflection that had manifested itself in the États généraux de la philosophie (1979), in which Derrida had participated.

The institution is subject to the Associations Act 1901 and receives financial grants from the government. The events are open to everyone. Participants can obtain the Diplôme du Collège international de philosophie , which is not a university diploma .

background

Faced with the threat of abolishing philosophy at the Lycée, Derrida said he was inspired by the Cerisy-la-Salle Study Center ( Center Culturel International de Cerisy ) to found this new institution.

The foundation therefore had “an origin that does not go back to the government, with an international reach, it is an institution that is not intended as an opposition, but rather that aims to balance, question, open and occupy the margins; where less common approaches or approaches that are not yet legitimized in the university, new objects, new topics, new fields are preferred; where there is more talk of the gaps between the academic disciplines than of these themselves. "

Elected directors

Lecturers who have taught at the Collège (selection)

Note: The exact title of the lecturer is "Directeur de programme". Derrida wanted to mark a difference to the university. The directors are elected for 6 years due to an open competition after presenting a program and cannot be re-elected. The number of directors is limited.
