Miitomo is an app from the game developer Nintendo that was released on March 31, 2016 for Android and iOS . As Nintendo announced at the end of January 2018, the game was discontinued on May 9, 2018.

Origin of name

The word Miitomo is made up of Mii , the name of a digital avatar that is only available on the newer Nintendo consoles and is based on the English word "me", and "Tomodachi" ( Japanese 友 達 , German friend ).

functionality

Miitomo is a messaging app that, among other things, is supposed to help shy people make new friends. After you have created a Mii, you get asked questions over and over again, which are then forwarded to friends with the aim of getting to know them better. The app is free of charge, but it is possible to use microtransactions to unlock additional content such as new clothes for the Miis.

System requirements

No cell phone number is required, but active internet access .
